Vineyard: A selection of vineyards from Valtuille de Abajo.
Soil Type: Mostly clay soils, sandy and pebbles too.
Vine Age: 70 to 80 years old and older.
Irrigation: No irrigation

Yield: 4 t/ha.

Vinification:

The grapes were hand picked, extended maceration and fermented in 500 liters French oak barrels. Aged for just over a year in French oak barrels.
Production 20 000 bottles.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Bright cherry and violet hues.
Nose: Elegant with fine hints of wood, a mixture of candied fruits and chocolate.
Palate: In the mouth it is intense and structured with rich fine tannins and meaty showing well the terroir profile. It is harmonious and well made.
Other: El Castro de Valtuille is a refined wine that is fairly versatile, may be paired with coq au vin, in place of a Pinot Noir also goes well with game meat dishes.
